How to test a Kenmore dryer heater.
To test a kenmore dryer heater you will need an ohmmeter. It is very important that you unplug the dryer before attempting any repair. Once you have gained access to the dryer heater, remove the wires attached to the dryer element terminals. These will be heavy duty wires. Using an ohmmeter, check for resistance across the two terminals. If the dryer heater is bad, you will be unable to read any resistance. Verify this by touching the two leads of the meter together. When you touch the two leads coming from the meter together, the meter should read zero resistance. If the dryer heating element is good when you put the two leads across the dryer element terminals, you should read approximately 20 ohms on your ohmmeter.
