How to replace a Whirlpool dryer belt
Below are the instructions for installing a Whirlpool dryer belt
1. Disconnect the dryer from the power supply
2. Lift up the dryer top by sliding a putty knife under the left and right
edge pushing in the clips
3. Make sure the dryer is close to a wall, you will need to lean the top back
4. Remove the front panel, some are held in by screws, others by clips
5. Route the belt around the drum making sure that the “V” grooves are facing down
6. Feed the belt through the idler bracket and around the motor pulley like the picture below. The dryer idler pulley is made of spring steel; you will need to use two hands, (most people are outfitted with two at birth) one to pull the idler pulley to the right, the other to feed the belt through the idler pulley and over the motor pulley.
7. Before you button the dryer back up make sure that the dryer rear seal is properly positioned to prevent a fire hazard by dryer lint leaking past. Use your putty knife to reposition the seal if necessary.
