3399849 Dryer Thermal Fuse
Dryer thermal fuse 3399849, is used on Kenmore, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Roper and some Maytag dryers, laundry centers and compact dryers 24 inch wide. It does not reset if it "blows" and is electrically open. If it is "bad" it must be replaced.
Where is dryer thermal fuse 3399849 located
Dryer thermal fuse 3399849, is located on the back of the blower motor housing. Electrically, it is in series with the dryer motor. Therefore if this thermal fuse opens, or blows, the dryer motor will stop. The purpose of the dryer thermal fuse is to protect against dryer fires. If the motor seizes, or if the control thermostat fails, and the high limit thermostat fails, the thermal fuse is the last line of defense to shut the dryer down. If your dryer needs this thermal fuse replaced, you should look for airflow issues within the dryer vent system. When a dryer cannot push the air and humidity out of the vent, it overheats. Symptoms of a restricted dryer vent are, the dryer takes too long to dry, it seems to be very hot on top and the lint filter does not collect much lint.
