134101800 Door Lock

Dual action lid switch with external safety lock 134101800is used on Frigidaire, some Kenmore, Kelvinator, Tappan, White-Westinghouse, Gibson, some GE and other brand top loading washers

 

This top load washer lid switch, uses a bimetallic strip to sense the current draw of the motor. A bimetallic strip is used to convert a temperature change into mechanical displacement. As current passes through the bimetallic strip on its way to the motor, it causes the bimetallic strip to warp and actuate the lever that contacts the lid strike, holding the washer lid down. Notice in the picture above a silver hook on the switch. That is the lever attached to the bimetallic strip.
